Background

Fronteira Global’s president, Adam Choppin (pr: ‘Shōw-păn’), is a veteran analyst of emerging and frontier markets with in-country experience ranging from Iraq and Afghanistan to Ghana and Brazil. Mr. Choppin has worked with hundreds of companies across the globe to develop market strategies, analyze investment opportunities, develop partnerships, overcome market access barriers, leverage U.S. government programs for global business, and find reliable partners in frontier markets. Mr. Choppin is also an Adjunct Professor of International Business for the College of Business at Ohio University.

Prior to founding Fronteira Global, Mr. Choppin served with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Iraq and Afghanistan Investment and Reconstruction Task Force from 2006-2008. Mr. Choppin was one of a half dozen U.S. Government experts to formulate and execute U.S. commercial and economic policy to Iraq and Afghanistan during this critical and formative period. Mr. Choppin also assisted over a thousand contractors, investors, and exporters to navigate regulatory requirements, find new partners, obtain financing and risk insurance, and formulate appropriate market strategies for Iraq and/or Afghanistan. During this time clients included over a dozen Fortune 500 companies, in addition to hundreds of small to medium sized companies ranging from new-to-market exporters to billion dollar investors. In June 2008, Mr. Choppin also organized the first official U.S. Government trade mission to Iraq in over 20 years.

Mr. Choppin’s other public sector experience includes work for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the Department’s of State, Treasury, and USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development). Mr. Choppin was also a Presidential Management Fellow in the International Trade Administration.

Mr. Choppin earned his B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California, with honors, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and valedictorian of the USC School of International Relations; his M.A. in International Relations with emphases in Economics and Business from Yale University; and a post-graduate Diploma in Finance from the London School of Economics. He is fluent in Portuguese, proficient in Spanish, and learning Arabic.
